smallhome improvement

this week i replaced the screen in my back door. this project is pretty self explanatory with any screen door. mind how the frame is built and comes apart. be gingerly with it and make sure you know how to put it back together.
the frame should pry apart, or come loose with a screw driver. carefully pull up the rubber screen string that wedges the screen to its frame.
pull the old screen out and cast aside (you can use that for other things later.)
place the new screening, uncut, on top of the frame. with a blunt but hard tipped tool, start replacing the rubber sting by firmly pressing it into the well wedging the new screen to the frame. do this every inch or so, be patient otherwise it will pry back up when you think you're done. (the string should make a click sound when wedged back completely.)
cut the excess screen off leaving a little extra at the sides.

enjoy your new tear free screen door!
